The High-street is going through a tough period. We are moving from an analogue world to a digital world. If you sell clothes, food or other commodity products on the high-street and you are being threatened by the digital world, what can you do?

Technology has changed pretty much everything in the modern business world, but how can it transform the customer experience, productivity and efficiency at work? While it’s true that HR processes are still very manual, document-driven and ripe for digitalisation, to transform them is often more complex than other business unit processes within your organisation.
Here are some lessons for anybody wanting to do digital transformation based on positive experiences:
Differentiate between digital and innovation
Digital teams do sprints, have product owners & scrum masters, use Cloud Computing, AI, continuous deployment, etc. Innovation teams do the same. However very few companies have both and make sure they compete and collaborate at the same time.
I have seen many businesses saying they have embarked on digital transformation while in reality, they have just digitized some of their processes.
There is confusion over the two terms, Digitization &Digital Transformation.
The two terms are often used interchangeably when their actual meanings are totally different. In fact, they point to two very different ways of responding to disruptive technology.
Let me talk about Digitization: It is doing the same things, differently.
Uber or Black Cab – Which is Your HR Function?
I’ve used Uber a few times, but have to say I’ve been a Black Cab kind of girl for years and there is something familiar about them that makes me stick with them.
Yesterday though I started to think differently. My last few trips to London have involved a Cab ride, none of the drivers have known where to go and the cost, compared to what an Uber would have been almost double the cost and the card machines haven’t been working so cash has been paid, one driver even dropping me at a cash machine.
Digital transformation may sound easy, but it’s not. Especially when, there are so many different understandings of this buzzword around the world.
Of course, it’s a journey which will change with the technologies you adopt and bring into the people, processes, and culture associated with your company. Before understanding this buzzword, it is important to know what a Digital Transformation is not.
Many organisations misunderstand digital transformation.
